What can I relate this section of Flatland to?

I have to relate the section of Flatland where the narrator goes into spaceland for the first time to a real-life experience. What do you think would be good to relate it to?

1. Try and relate it to the first time that you ever did something new. I haven't read the book, but if the narrator is scared before they go, think of a time that you were scared before you tried something. If they were excited, then you think of a time in your life when YOU were excited.
