How safe is it to skydive into the eye of a hurricane?

I want to skydive in the eye of a hurricane to see and record what the clouds and everything else including atmospheric conditions are like in the eye of the storm. Is it possible to be blown to the eye wall? The eye has little or no wind so is it really possible to be blown to the eye wall? How? The eye is the weakest part, the eye wall is the strongest. I'm trying to figure out the possibility of me being off course and inadvertently being blown to the eye wall. I plan on landing on the ground, not the ocean.

  1. It probable isn't the safest because it has high winds and that is the strongest part of the storm, that would be such a good idea.
  2. 100% safe until the eye moves away from you...
  3. In the eye of a hurricane, you would be safe from high winds and heavy rain. However, the waves caused by hurricane force winds will show you no mercy. The upper level winds could easily throw you off course. You would need to take into consideration possibly hundreds of factors in order to make a successful skydive into the eye of a hurricane. Even if you safely made your way into the eye, how exactly do you plan on surviving terrifying waves? Boats would never survive and large ships could be turned over.
  4. Could be as safe as swimming in Alaska or as safe as walking on sea urchin-infested sand. Yes, the eye is the most calm and safest part of the hurricane, but you also need to be aware of storm surges, the deadliest factor of a hurricane. Storm surges are deadly tidal waves. You might also need to be aware of lightning.
  5. There can actually be small rotating cloud systems within the eye itself so the eye is not always clear. In order to skydive into the hurricane you would need to be above the hurricane when flying into it as most planes made now a days could not sustain the turbulence in a hurricane. So it would be difficult to get into the eye with a plane. Many planes were probably not made to fly at such high altitudes (to get above the hurricane). Also all parts of the eye are not generally calm and thus if you hit even a small burst of wind you could be blown off track and fall into a downward trajectory that would put you right in the eyewall, a horrible place especially on the front right side of the hurricane (the strongest side). I would heavily advise against it due to all the possible things that could go wrong.
